Good evening East Palestine families and staff its Mr. Neifer East Palestine Superintendent
I am calling to update you on a few things:
Just a reminder that EPCSD will be closed for spring break starting Thursday, April 6th through Monday, April 10th. Classes will resume on Tuesday April 11th.
We received a generous donation of 160 industrial air purifiers from Germ Solutions LLC. A company from Zelionople, PA. Those units arrived this week and have been installed in classrooms and spaces utilized by staff and students.
Air and Water monitoring continues in conjunction with the EPA and Village. Results continue to be good and can be found on the EPA website. Soil sampling also began today on the school's campus.
I want to provide you with some specific data to counter some of the rumors that have come to me this week
We currently have 104 students taking part in our online learning option due to displacement or environmental concern. This only accounts for about 10% of our population.
We have only had 11 families withdraw from the district at this time. Many of these families are displaced and have communicated that they are planning on returning next year.
Our daily attendance for students is averaging 88% since the derailment. This is just shy of our normal rates of 90-92%.
On behalf of the East Palestine Administrative staff and Board of Education I want to thank you for your continued support and wish you a safe and happy Spring Break. Stay Safe, and as always, Go Bulldogs!!!
