You may be familiar with our schools’ partnership with the Family Recovery Center's Aiming High program. In fact, you may have a student that actively participates in the mentoring group that meets throughout the school year.

Aiming High is a prevention program provided to students across grade levels and is designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs as well as getting along peacefully with others.

Aiming High utilizes the Too Good for Drugs and Violence curriculum, an evidence-based, skill-building program that will make a positive impact on the lives of students, teachers, parents, and community leaders.

Aiming High’s goal is to give students the tools they need to live a healthy life and realize they are too good for drugs and violence. Their lessons cover goal setting, decision making, peer pressure, communicating, friendships, and managing emotions. Students also participate in a community service project.

In addition to community outreach and classroom appearances, Aiming High recently began making pre-recorded mental health and prevention lessons. On their YouTube Channel,

Aiming High has created a mental health and prevention toolkit that is accessible to anyone. The lessons are grouped by grade level and age appropriate for the targeted audience. These lessons are easily accessible and can be used at home or anywhere that is convenient for you. Please feel free to take advantage of this valuable resource.
